This uncancelled proof obverse die is incuse and struck proof gold 20 Marks in 1898 and 1904. This incuse die is 25 mm in height and is in superb condition.

The Schaumburg-Lippe 20 Mark in proof was only struck during these two years and are among the lowest mintage German Empire gold proofs of the 20th century. There were only 250 proofs struck in 1898 and only 132 struck in 1904. These have sold in public auctions for five figures.

George, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe (October 10, 1846 – April 29, 1911) was the ruler of the small Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe within the German Empire from 1893 to 1911.

This uncancelled obverse die fits into a collection of German coins, a collection of dies, or a collection of mint errors. It is extremely rare and the first uncancelled German die that we have handled that struck proof gold coins.
