This is a choice proof 63 ultra cameo U.S. Mint gold medal. It is an undated gold medal designated as Julian PR-41. It is listed in the reference book, Medals of the United States Mint: The First Century, 1792-1892 by R. W. Julian, which is an illustrated history of specialty medals struck by the U.S. Mint. Although undated, it is believed to have been struck in 1882 and was issued by the U.S. Mint. The obverse portrays a bust right of Lincoln. The reverse portrays a bust of Garfield. This U.S. Mint issued gold medal depicts the first two U.S. presidents that were assassinated.
