This is a stunning almost gem cameo MS 64 deep proof-like U.S. Mint gold medal. It is an undated Barber designed gold medal designated as Julian PR-41. It is listed in the reference book, Medals of the United States Mint: The First Century, 1792-1892 by R. W. Julian, which is an illustrated history of specialty medals struck by the U.S. Mint. The obverse portrays a bust right of Lincoln. The reverse portrays the bust of Garfield. These undated medals were first struck in 1882, three years after the engraver's death.
