1941 Washington Quarter
Struck over a Struck Lincoln Cent

ANACS MS 64 BRN

slab

This is the earliest known double denomination Washington Quarter. It is a 1941 Quarter struck over a struck Lincoln Cent with the "Wheat Ears" reverse. It is also a flipover because you can see the "Wheat Ears" on the obverse in the fields to the left and right of Washington's portrait. Although it is hard to see the date in these scans because of the way the coin was placed in the holder, the date is visible including most of the "4" and part of the second "1" in 1941.

It is in gem mint state condition and has an even and attractive red and brown toning. Unique.
