This silver obverse die trial of Maximilian II of Bavaria (1848-1864) is a rare pattern proof taler and only one of three certified. It was only struck with the obverse die.

The proposed design of Maximilian's portrait shows a variation in his hairline from the adopted design. There is one certified by NGC PF 66 Ultra Cameo, and one certified by PCGS PR 62 Deep Cameo.

An extremely rare example of an early Bavarian silver pattern die trial, perfect for a collector of German coins or of patterns and die trials.
