U.S. dime off-metals are extremely rare, especially in the Mercury dime and Barber dime series. This is due to the small size of the U.S. dime blank which obviously means that the planchet has to be smaller and intended for coins of a different country.

There are only a handful of Mercury dime off-metals known. This Mercury dime was struck on a Netherlands East Indies 10¢ planchet and is in choice mint state condition.
