All gold errors are very scarce. This $5 Liberty Head gold piece is completely broadstruck out of the collar. Since this Gold planchet was not seated in the collar when it was struck, there is no reeding and it also expanded in diameter.

There are only a few known Major Mint Errors on U.S. Gold Coins above the $2½ denomination. This piece would be the highlight of a U.S. Gold collection or a Major Mint Error Collection.
