This is the only known U.S. SATIN State Quarter in the entire series, that was struck with the obverse clad layer missing. It is a special strike with a satin finish. These were issued in original government packaging, and had to be ordered from the U.S. Mint.
The obverse shows the copper core that is exposed, since the clad layer is missing. On regular issued mint state State Quarters, the value ranges between $400 and $2,000 depending which state is missing the clad layer.
The only other SATIN finish State Quarter that was struck missing the clad layer is a South Dakota missing the reverse layer.
The Satin State Quarters were special strikes, examined and sealed in packaging prior to being shipped. Here is an opportunity to acquire a UNIQUE State Quarter Satin Finish missing the obverse clad layer, certified and authenticated by PCGS.
