There are several known Franklin Half Dollar double denominations. Two of them were struck on struck quarters and two were struck over struck cents.

This is the earliest known Franklin Half Dollar off-metal. It is dated to 1948 since it is on a previously struck 1948 Wheat Ear Lincoln cent. It is in gem mint state condition and is well centered with attractive toning. It shows considerable detail of Lincoln's portrait and the date on the obverse and the wheat ears on the reverse. This spectacular major mint error was featured in my NLG Award winning book, World's Greatest Mint Errors, and would be the centerpiece of any collection.
