This is one of the most spectacular off-metals of all time. Shield Nickel Major Mint Errors are extremely rare.

This off-metal is the RAYS variety, a two year type from 1866 and 1867. There are only two other off-metal Shield Nickels with RAYS known to exist. This specimen is worthy of the finest Mint Error or Type collection.
