All major proof errors are extremely rare. Major Proof Errors on century old type coins are unheard of. This gem Proof 3¢ Nickel was actually triple struck in the collar with a 10% rotation between strikes. The doubling on all three strikes is very obvious and is quite dramatic. 1875 was a low proof mintage for 3¢ Nickels with approximately 700 struck. To date, this Major Proof Type Error is unique for the series. |
